Control your Garden with 4 Simple & Easy Natural Weed Killers

Weeds can be a nuisance in any garden or lawn. They compete with desirable plants for nutrients, water, and sunlight, and can quickly take over if left unchecked. While there are many commercial herbicides available on the market, many people prefer to use natural weed killers that are safe for the environment and don’t harm beneficial insects, animals, or humans. We’ll explore some of the most effective natural weed killers that you can use in your garden.

1. Lemon juice/ vinegar and baking soda

Lemon juice and vinegar are popular natural weed killers that can be found in most kitchens. They both contain acetic acid, which is an effective herbicide.

Dissolve 1 Β½ cup of baking soda in 2 tbsp of vinegar or lemon juice in a gallon of water.

Transfer to a spray bottle and spray it directly onto the weeds. Be careful not to spray it on desirable plants, as vinegar can also damage them. Vinegar is most effective when used on young, small weeds, as larger weeds may require multiple applications.

Note: Lemon juice and vinegar aren’t disinfectants- they will only minimally kill viruses and bacteria. More on this coming up

2. Salt solution

Salt is another natural weed killer that is effective when used properly. It works by drawing moisture out of the plants, causing them to wither and die.

Mix 1 cup of salt with 2 cups of water and pour the solution directly onto the weeds.

Be careful not to use too much salt, as it can damage the soil and prevent future plant growth.

3. Boiled Water
